You know how much we love OWAY, and at Gloss HQ, we are all obsessed with their Sunway Line, designed for beach hair protection. However, as we really want to immerse ourselves in seawater and welcome the warmth of the summer sun on our skin, we need to be mindful of the pitfalls that summer does for the health of our hair by causing oxidative stress and structural damage.

Sunscreen can protect your skin against skin cancer and premature ageing. However, it is also ineffective unless it’s applied correctly. So we caught up with our skin goddess, Agnieszka, for some inside scoop on all things SPF.
How do we choose sunscreen?
If you’re going to be outdoors and spending your time on the beach, you need to choose a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, water-resistant, and broad-spectrum coverage.
So as we get to the beach, we put it on, and we’re good to go?
No, you need to apply your sunscreen before going outdoors. It takes approximately 15 minutes for your skin to absorb the sunscreen and protect you.
How much do we need to use?
Enough to fully cover your body and ensure that you rub it thoroughly into your skin. Remember your neck, face, ears, and tops of your feet and legs. For hard‐to‐reach areas like your back, ask someone to help you or use a spray sunscreen. If you have thinning hair, apply sunscreen to your scalp or wear a wide‐brimmed hat. To protect your lips, apply a lip balm with a minimum of SPF15.
So we now know we need to put it on before we leave home, and then we’re good to go?
To remain protected outdoors, reapply sunscreen every two hours or immediately after swimming or sweating. People who get sunburned usually don’t use enough sunscreen, don’t reapply after sun exposure or use an expired product. Your skin is exposed to the sun’s harmful UV rays every time you go outside, even on cloudy days and in the winter. So remember to use sunscreen and incorporate it as an essential part of your daily routine.

Tell us a little about you?
My name is Chantelle. I am a mother of two beautiful girls aged 12 and 10, and I have lived in Oxted most of my life.
What made you choose this path as your career choice?
I have always had a deep inner calling and desire to help people with their health and healing from a very young age. I have my masters in Reiki, and after seeing the benefits first-hand of Reflexology, I knew I’d found my path. As a result, all my Reflexology treatments are infused with Reiki.
How will a reflexology treatment better our well-being
I believe Reflexology is a magical treatment that benefits you physically, spiritually, and emotionally. I love how this holistic treatment can initiate healing through the whole body inside and out! Reflexology is powerful in that it helps dissipate stress and anxiety. Stress is the main contributor to illnesses, so as Reflexology generates the release of endorphins, your body becomes resilient to adverse emotional effects as a byproduct. It really is the catalyst for total well-being.
What is the most significant outcome you’ve seen when treating a client?
There have been so many positive outcomes! For example, a client suffered excruciating sciatica and feared she might even need surgery. After a course of treatments, she had no pain whatsoever and still doesn’t through regular visits. Seeing positive changes in clients suffering from stress, anxiety, and mental well-being is also extremely rewarding. I have a lot of young clients as well, and it makes me so happy to see that they are taking charge to manage their health and well-being naturally and authentically.
What do you do in your spare time for your own well-being?
I get Reflexology done as I know how beneficial it is for my well-being and to replenish myself so I can give back. I love to swim and practise yoga and daily meditations. I love enjoying delicious food and good wine as life is all about balance, and to lead a whole life, we need to ensure we live authentically and remain true to ourselves.
